Keith Garrett of All Flavor No Grease sells his take on Mexican street food out of his food truck in South Central Los Angeles. He makes quesadillas, tacos, and burritos filled with chicken, steak, shrimp, or all three. Keith grew up in Watts, a neighborhood in South LA.

After selling weed for years, he used his entrepreneurial instincts to start a candy shop, which he morphed into a taco stand in front of his mom’s house before turning it into All Flavor No Grease.

Now, AFNG is a South LA institution that has been lauded by rappers like The Game, Problem, Bow Wow, and the late Nipsey Hussle. Keith’s inspiring journey to becoming a street food icon is one of the most memorable of the series.

Victor Delgado and Jorge “Joy” Alvarez-Tostado of Tacos 1986 hit the streets of downtown LA with Jenn Harris, senior food writer at the LA Times, and Jordan Okun, producer and host of Air Jordan: A Food Podcast. On this Chef’s Night Out, the four visit three of LA’s best restaurants: Alameda Supper Club, Majordomo, and Bavel, which was named the LA Times’ 2019 Restaurant of the Year.

They start the night off with wine and pasta, before heading to David Chang’s Majordomo for a raw platter of uni and oysters, followed by smoked beef short rib. Then it’s off to Bavel for more wine, head-on shrimp, and a sampling of spreads before ending the night at Tacos 1986, where customers are waiting for Victor and Joy’s return.
