Avengers: Infinity War promised to be a climactic showdown with tons of action and excitement and it delivered. The Avengers battle with Thanos and his minions proved both dramatic and intense, and also managed to pack an emotional wallop many didn’t see coming. But there are many ways in which the final product could have been completely different. For instance, early versions of the story were even more Thanos-centric and even a first-person narration was considered at one point. Even his universe-obliterating snap was at one point intended to show up in Avengers 4 as opposed to Infinity War. While Spider-Man ended up going to outer space with Dr. Strange and Tony Stark, it was originally Falcon who was supposed to be there instead of Peter. The Hulk, mysteriously absent for the majority of the film, was supposed to make his triumphant return during the battle of Wakanda. Thor’s quest to find a weapon with which he could destroy Thanos almost included a scene of him conversing with his dead grandfather’s ghost and battling a dragon. Originally the events of Infinity War were intended to be split into a Part 1 and Part 2, similar to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Captain America, who is relatively scarce in Infinity War, had an even smaller part in early versions of the script, and there was originally a scene planned for he and Tony to reconcile their differences after the events of Civil War.
