Teen Titans Go! stirs some fans the wrong way. The much sillier animated series was the replacement for the fan favorite Teen Titans series. But the writers on Go! are fully aware of the divided fanbase, both in terms of its own shows and the larger DC universe and have continuously poked fun at their own work in the show. There was one episode where the titans actually get to see a clip of the original series and compare the new content to the older content. They also ask Walter which version he prefers, and he wastes no time giving his reply. The show also likes to poke fun at Aquaman, and until Jason Momoa swims onto the big screen, he’ll likely continue to be the big joke of the DC universe. Another big joke in the franchise is the Martha moment from Batman V Superman and Go gets around to making fun of that scene in their movie, Teen Titans Go! To The Movies! There’s also some jokes about the DC movies, including a parody of The Dark Knight films and an embarrassed comment about the reality of the Green Lantern movie. The internet has a weird obsession with Nightwing’s butt, and Robin gets to poke fun at that in a song in the Titans’ movie. The titans also get to meet their voice actors in an incredibly meta moment for the show. Finally, they get to see all the weird trophies in Batman’s cabinet and a weird one is kept there for Robin to see.
