He Risked Death as First American to Explore Africa’s Deepest Parts | National Geographic

In 1889, William Stamps Cherry set foot in Western Africa at age 20. A hunter-explorer, he went further into the Congo than any white man before him, exploring what is known today as the Central African Republic. He would spend eight years exploring the continent, discovering three tribes and bringing back artifacts that are held today at the Museum of Natural History in Los Angeles, one of the biggest collections of its kind in the United States. Although many newspaper articles were written about Cherry before and after his travels, a book he had been working on was never published and, until recently, he had been forgotten to history. His grandson, William Stuart Cherry, and his biographer, William E. Casey, discuss William Stamps Cherry’s life and legacy.

10 Disney Theories That Will Hype You For Their Upcoming Movies

Crazy theory behind Lightning McQueen and Cars as we get ready for Disney Cars 3! What other popular movies made the list? 10 Disney Theories That Will Hype You For Their Upcoming Movies! Subscribe to our channel : http://goo.gl/ho3Hg6

Disney has been a childhood staple for 80 years now, becoming an empire through their characters, theme parks and and classic movies. But in recent years, there has started to be a lot more speculation about possible connections between movies, as well as stand alone theories that totally change how we see the films.

The most popular and far reaching theory is centred around Frozen and Tangled, but also includes The Little Mermaid and Tarzan! It believes that Elsa and Anna’s parents were shipwrecked on their way to Rapunzel’s wedding, had a baby boy (who is actually Tarzan) on an island then died. And the shipwreck, that’s the one that Ariel explored in The Little Mermaid.

One theory thinks that Cars killed humans and took the personality of the last person to drive it. One has Andy’s mom in Toy Story being the original owner of Jessie. Yet another thinks Wreck-It Ralph proves the whole disneyverse to be video games.

Disney is releasing a lot of live action remakes of classic animated films and fans are hoping they help explain some plot points, but there’s also these theories to help those as well. In The Lion King, Mufasa controls the weather once he dies. In Mulan, the Great Stone Dragon didn’t wake up because it’s spirit was inside Mulan, and in Snow White, the Evil Queen could also be the same person as Mother Gothel from Tangled.
