فى جنوب ولاية فلوريدا الأمريكية أصطف الناس داخل السيارات لما يقرب من ميلين ينتظرون الوصول الى بنك الطعام المحلى ولقد حدث الشئ نفسه فى كاليفورنيا وبنسلفانيا ونيويورك , حيث تشهد بنوك الغذاء فى جميع أنحاء الولايات المتحدة ارتفاعاً كبيراً فى زيارة عدد كبير من المحتاجين بسبب فيروس كورونا، فى حين ان المزارع الامريكية تشهد تداعيات اقتصادية ناجمة عن فيروس كورونا , ولكنها مختلفة تماماً . فتلك المزارع تعانى من فائض هائل من الطعام يتم اهداره بلا مقابل , فالاف الاطنان من البطاطس والخيار تترك لتتعفن أو يتم ردها واعادتها مرة أخرى الى الحقول , كما أضطر منتجو الالبان الى التخلص من ملايين الغالونات من الحليب الطازج وسكبه فى بالوعات الصرف الصحى0 كل ذلك بسبب الانقطاع الحادث فى سلسلة الامداد الغذائى والناتج من فيروس كورونا 0فالمزارعين الان لديهم وفرة فى أنتاج الطعام مع خيارات قليلة جداً لا تمكنهم من تصريفه . ولكى نفهم سبب الانقطاع فى سلسلة الامداد الغذائى يمكن أن نتحدث عن منتجات الالبان كمثال :-

LifeBank is a team that uses Google Maps to connect dispatch riders with blood banks and hospitals in need. The crew of this short documentary spent a month embedded in a Lagos hospital, following six pregnant women and four LifeBank delivery riders on a mission to save as many lives as possible.
