Everyone right now is HYPED for the next generation of gaming with the arrival of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X. While we’re all fighting to get our hands on the limited stock available for the future of consoles, there’s been a very different boom in the industry that hasn’t gotten nearly as much attention. 2020 has been a year where a ton of people have found themselves bored, with very little to do. So these people have turned to gaming, in a way that doesn’t involve a fresh new console. No, they’ve been turning to the exciting world of mobile gaming which has gotten more and more serious over the years. Don’t believe me? Well, mobile gaming has been blowing up in the esports arena. Games like PUBG: Mobile and Fortnite have popularized the medium to a whole new level!

So how exactly did this come about? How did we get from the days where the best game you could play on your cell phone was Snake to the present where you can play 4K titles online with a seamless 5G connection? Which phones should you buy to properly appreciate the greatest games mobile has to offer? Not only that but what does the future hold? When will I be able to play PS5-level games on the device in my pocket? Not soon enough, that’s for sure.

Autocar Christmas Road Test 2020 | Zeppelin airship ‘The Goodyear Blimp’

Welcome to the 2020 Autocar Christmas Road Test, which is of The Goodyear Blimp. Or, more accurately, a Zeppelin LZ N07-101.

The Zeppelin is what’s called a hybrid or semi-rigid airship, which has a framework inside it but one which doesn’t restrain the balloon (or envelope), which takes its shape from gas pressure alone.

In this case, that’s some 7500cu.m of helium, to offset the Zeppelin’s 7500kg of mass, making this airship almost – though not quite – lighter than air. Around 95% of its lift comes from the helium, with the rest coming through aerodynamics or engine thrust, depending on speed, or load, and more. It’s quite a complicated machine.

So join us as we aim to make it simple. We explain how this Zeppelin has 600bhp from three engines, a top speed of 78mph, a maximum altitude of 3000m, a range of more than 600 miles and an endurance of 22 hours.
