Inside the Amazon: A Photographer’s Story | Nat Geo Live

Manú National Park, deep in the Peruvian rain forest, is one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. The park and surrounding areas are home to some 10 percent of the world’s bird species, countless insect species still unknown to science, and about as many tree species as are found in all of North America. It is also home to “uncontacted” tribes such as the Mascho-Piro who have chosen to live in isolation for a century, a few of whom are slowly beginning to make contact with outsiders. National Geographic photographer Charlie Hamilton James ventured into Manú National Park to photograph life in this remarkable park for the June 2016 issue of National Geographic magazine. Hear James tell stories from his time living in a small village among the Matsigenka people who are beginning to make contact with some of the isolated people living in the rain forests—and enjoy his stunning photos of the people and wildlife of the Amazon.

الاربعاء، 11 مايو 2016 – إستهلت الأميرة أميرة الطويل جلسة “ملهمون لخدمة الإنسانية” التي عقدت في ثاني أيام منتدى الاعلام العربي في دبي بترديد كلمة “الله أكبر” أكثر من مرة، مؤكدة عظمة قدر تلك الكلمات وما تحمله من معان، موضحة أنها حرصت على ترديدها قبل أن تبدأ الجلسة، وتحرص على ترديدها يوميا بهدف استذكار واستحضار عظمة الخالق سبحانه وتعالى.
وقالت أميرة الطويل أن معنى كلمة الله أكبر يبدو حاضرا بكل أبعاده العظيمة لدى المسلمين، ولكنها تساءلت “هل هذا المعنى يتجسد بشكله الحقيقي لدى غير المسلمين في أنحاء العالم، أم أنهم يرون هذا المعنى مختلفا لديهم، مع ترديد الارهابيين لهذه الكلمة العظيمة مؤخرا خلال ارتكابهم أعمالا إرهابية فظيعة لا تمت إلى الإسلام العظيم بأي صلة”.

On the Art and Practice of Sushi: The Sushi Chef with Masaharu Morimoto

Masaharu Morimoto is most famously known for being an Iron Chef, but there is another side of him we don’t get to see too often. In addition to his life on TV, Chef Morimoto is a successful restaurateur who has worked long and hard to build a team that can create great food at each of his restaurants. We spend time with Morimoto at two of his restaurants, Morimoto in Chelsea and Momosan Ramen & Sake in Midtown.

Morimoto had two dreams when he was a child, to become a sushi chef or a professional baseball player. After sustaining an injury he dedicated his life to sushi and since then has applied himself to the art and practice of sushi every day. As Morimoto says, “I don’t want to be a celebrity or a celebrity chef. I want to be known as a legitimate chef.”
