The Rise and Fall of Skate

For a brief period of time in the early 2000s, skateboarding video games were inescapable. The countercultural sport had been adapted into bits and bytes many times in the past, but following the genre-defining release of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater in 1999, it became one of the hottest commodities in gaming. Year after year, players couldn’t stop shredding elaborate digital combos, and developers couldn’t stop pumping out opportunities for players to do so.

By 2007, however, the genre was getting tired. Its best games were struggling to advance beyond what had been established at the end of the preceding millennium, and its worst made it seem bloated and exploitative. It’s in this window that EA Black Box introduced the world to Skate. Where Pro Skater and most of the titles that succeeded it depicted skating as it appeared on TV – sensationalized and effortless – Skate attempted depict the sport with greater realism than ever before. Performing a trick meant moving the joystick in a way that mimicked whatever it is one wanted to perform, rather than press a button to instantly grind or ollie.

Skate would go on to become a critical and commercial darling, spawning a spin-off and two equally popular sequels in less than three years – only to disappear without a trace. Despite possessing considerable goodwill, extraneous factors would lead EA to abandon the series while it was ahead, leaving players hoping for a fourth Skate title out in the cold. Yet rather than move on, Skate’s fan base would only become more voracious overtime, transforming Skate 4 from an idle fantasy, into one of the most talked about video games that has never existed; a curse of unrequited love that continues to haunt EA to this very day on social media.

This is the rise and fall of Skate.

Avengers 4 will be coming out on May 3, 2019. After the shocking ending of Avengers Infinity War, everyone wants to find out what happens next. How will the heroes come back to life after the devastating snap that wiped out half of the life in the universe, which original Avenger will die, how will Thanos be defeated, and where, who and why is Gamora?
While we will need to wait for a while until we will get these answers, for now we can all just theorize about what happens in next year’s still untitled Avengers movie.
Of course, there are many theories online about Avengers 4, and many of them deal with time travel, most of those theories are based on photos from the set of Avengers 4. While our theory deals with time travel as well, we are taking the time travel theory and going crazy with it. Our theory is that not only Avengers 4 will deal with time travel, but it will deal with a time loop, a paradox that will throw the Avengers into a crazy adventure through time and space.
This time loop will not be something that the Avengers will be able to defeat easily, and it might be that the only way to break it and change time and prevent the snap is to sacrifice one of the original Avengers.
In this theory we will explore how this time loop theory will work, and how it might change the MCU forever.

Robbie’s Voice-Activated Room

Robbie has duchenne muscular dystrophy, which has left him able to control only his eyes, head and right thumb joint. Among the many challenges Robbie and his family face are his bedtime routine. For years, Robbie’s mom Carrie has set her alarm every few hours to get up and change his position in bed so he doesn’t get bed sores. Earlier this year, a sleep-deprived Carrie put out a message to the Muscular Dystrophy Association asking for help to try and find a better way. She got a response from Bill Weis, a retired tech worker, who thought he could set up Robbie’s bed to be controlled by voice activation. While working on the bed, Bill had an epiphany: if he can control the bed this way, why not everything else in Robbie’s bedroom universe?
