Carnage is one of the most ruthless villains in the Marvel Universe. Come to think of it, he’s one of the most ruthless villains in any universe. Now that Sony’s new Venom franchise is underway, we know Carnage will get his time in the spotlight. As evidenced in the source material, there are plenty of classic Carnage stories to tell, including the classic Maximum Carnage story arc, which was adapted into a popular Super Nintendo video game. But just how powerful is Carnage? We’ve taken a look at some of the most powerful foes he’s taken on and bested.
Of course you’d expect to see characters like Spider-Man and Venom, both of whom have come up against Carnage on multiple occasions and even at one point teamed up to battle him. Everyone’s favorite Merc with a Mouth Deadpool even had the pleasure of confronting Carnage, discovering the two of them were more alike than they initially thought. Carnage’s ruthlessness and violent tendencies proved to be no match for the Mercury Team, a team of four soldiers paired with symbiotes specifically trained to take on symbiotes. And Carnage doesn’t even bat an eye before taking out his own offspring, the symbiote Toxin, and his adopted son Doppelganger, who meets with a grisly fate when he dares stand up to Carnage.
There are plenty more powerful characters who have tried their best to fight Carnage, but ended up utterly defeated. Join us as we take a deep dive into all of them.
