According to Nintendo themselves, the new Switch Console is back on!…Kinda…They’re likely releasing a new switch, just not sure exactly when, or what the video game console will be called. So is this new Smash Ultimate Coming To The Switch Pro!? We’ll have to find out!

In early February, Nintendo was pretty clear about the Switch Pro not releasing in 2020. That announcement was a bummer for a number of reasons. First off, the idea of a more powerful Switch was incredibly enticing with some of the games Nintendo has in the works right now. Secondly, a new system would have made Nintendo more competitive with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X launching this year. Third, and perhaps most importantly, it’s hard to imagine what the next few years of Nintendo looks like without a new console hitting store shelves.
Thankfully, though, Nintendo’s golden boy, Masahiro Sakurai might have just leaked that a Switch Pro is in the works after all.
In an interview about Super Smash Bros Ultimate’s upcoming Fighter Pass 2, Sakurai mentioned that, outside of the Fighter Pass, no new Smash content will drop until there’s a new Nintendo console. This means that Nintendo is in fact working on a new system right now, and that it could drop as early as Spring 2021.
While this is mostly just rumors and speculation, the interview has us hopeful that Nintendo will follow through on the enhanced Switch that so much of its fanbase is clamoring for. This is Nintendo we’re talking about, though. The company pretty much does whatever it wants, whenever it wants regardless of trends in the gaming industry.
