HTC Status Review

The HTC Status (also known as the HTC ChaCha or Facebook Phone) is the latest smartphone available on AT&T and sports several key features including a 2.6″ 480×320 HVGA capacitive touch screen display, a Qualcomm MSM7227 single core processor clocked at 800Mhz, 512MB of RAM and ROM, an included 2GB MicroSD card (expandable to 32GB), Bluetooth 3.0, Wireless N Wi-Fi networking (802.11b/g/n), support for AT&T 3G, an open backlit physical QWERTY keyboard with directional keys, a dedicated Facebook button, Android 2.3 Gingerbread with HTC Sense, 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash and a VGA front facing camera.

In my HTC Status review I discuss the design, keyboard, front facing camera, Mirror app, Android capacitive touch buttons, Send and End keys, Facebook button, Android 2.3 Gingerbread and HTC Sense on the Status, the multiple home screens, general performance of the phone, personalization and customization options including the skins, themes and wallpapers, applications built-in including AT&T Navigator, Facebook, Facebook Chat, Google Talk, FM Radio, Gmail, Browser, Google Navigation, myAT&T, Android Market, Wi-Fi Hotspot and many more.

In addition I talk about compatibility with Android Market apps with the HTC Status screen and screen resolution, demo the internet browser with panning, zooming and overall performance, volume rocker, MicroUSB port for charging and syncing, lock button, 3.5mm headphone jack, call quality on the AT&T 2G and 3G network, build quality, pictures and video with the 5 megapixel camera with auto focus and LED flash, battery life, pricing, comparison with a messaging phone or BlackBerry smartphone and final impressions.
