Monster Mike Schultz – Adaptive Moto X and Snocross Athlete! – The Downshift Ep. 62

On this episode of The Downshift, we catch up with Monster Mike Schultz. During a snocross event in 2008, Mike had a terrible accident and was forced to have his leg amputated. He returned to action 7 months after his accident with a prosthetic leg dubbed the Moto Knee which he designed and won an X Games Silver Medal in Adaptive Moto X. In the next few years he would go on to win 4 X Games Gold Medals and has started his own company Biodapt which he helps other like him get back to what they love.

Remember back to the heated race across London, in which JAMES MAY, in a Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, raced RICHARD HAMMOND (on a bicycle) and JEREMY CLARKSON (in a motorboat) from Kew to London City Airport.

But as JAMES recalls, the real competition was The Stig… on public transportation!

“I don’t know what the Stig’s reaction to public transport is… He’s like a cat or a particularly stupid dog.”
