Torey Pudwill and The Art of Skate – Red Bull Skate Space: “Blank Canvas”

Skate over to http://win.gs/1fJrW4w for more!
Red Bull, in cooperation with the Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation and professional skateboarder Torey Pudwill, are building a permanent art sculpture for the city of Seattle that is skateable. Dubbed the “Red Bull Skate Space,” the sculpture will be designed by seasoned artist C.J. Rench and located in Jefferson Park.

Red Bull Skate Space will create a truly unique public art experience that explores the creative nexus of public space, athletic skill and individual imagination. This will not be a skate park, it is first and foremost a work of art – but this is art that invites interaction and participation. See how Torey and the team selected artist C.J. Rench in this video titled ‘Blank Canvas.

Steve Ramirez and Xu Liu: A mouse. A laser beam. A manipulated memory.

Can we edit the content of our memories? It’s a sci-fi-tinged question that Steve Ramirez and Xu Liu are asking in their lab at MIT. Essentially, the pair shoot a laser beam into the brain of a living mouse to activate and manipulate its memory. In this unexpectedly amusing talk they share not only how, but — more importantly — why they do this. (Filmed at TEDxBoston.)
