Tired Hands Brewing Company is run by head brewer and owner Jean Broillet out of Ardmore, Pennsylvania. Jean, who “gets a kick out of throwing weird shit into the kettle,” fell in love with brewing during his college years. What started as a passion in his parents’ garage is now a full-on career. The first thing Jean thinks about when he wakes up is “what the day’s brew is gonna hold.”

Welcome to the world of Thanksgiving! In the latest How-to, Matty Matheson shows us how to make a proper traditional Thanksgiving feast.

Did you know that the biggest problem in the world is that motherfuckers don’t know how to cook a turkey? We’re not gonna stuff the bird as it increases cooking time and the stuffing comes out like a sponge, we’re not gonna deep fry the bird, we’re not going to stuff a duck up it’s ass and we’re not even going to brine the turkey. What we are going to do, is put some fresh herbs in the cavity and cover it in salt, that’s it – It’s that easy guys!

Obviously no feast is complete without fixin’s, so Matty is also going to show us how to make casserole stuffing, cream cheese mash potatoes, maple syrup roasted carrots with pistachios, roasted brussels sprouts with bacon, sweet potato and butternut squash mash, creamed corn, gravy and cranberry sauce. You’re welcome!

It’s not often that the father-son team behind some of LA’s favorite tacos gets a night out together for good ol’ family bonding. So when Armando De La Torre—Senior and Junior—take us on a food tour of Downtown LA and Boyle Heights, they hit all their favorites, new and old.

We start the night at Bestia with rhum agricole daiquiris and dry Szamorodni bone marrow luges before heading to an old-school Mexican diner in Boyle Heights called Manuel’s Original El Tepeyac Café. The crew puts down a five-pound burrito filled with chile verde, rice, beans, guacamole, and oodles of cheese. We close out the night with cervezas and Morrissey karaoke at Eastside Luv before heading back to Guisados’ Downtown LA location for a mountain of carnitas ropa vieja tacos and chorizo quesadillas. Órale.
