Labour suffered a devastating loss in the General Election, losing 59 MPs – including a huge number of traditionally safe voting areas.
The ‘red wall’ is a Labour-voting stretch of seats across the Midlands and the north of England with strong working class roots.
Constituencies include Leigh, Workington, Blyth Valley and Redcar. These were just some of the areas which voted Conservative for the first time in decades.
