Like most Nintendo games, the Mario franchise is family friendly. Pretty much anyone can pick up the game and play as Mario the plumber in his quest to save Princess Peach from the clutches of Bowser. While the plot has remained the same for almost 30 years, the games have still found a way to build on each other and the franchise is as strong as ever in 2018. Super Mario Odyssey absolutely blew everyone away with its new gameplay mechanics and kingdom designs. But we’re not here to talk about the success of the franchise, we’re here to look at the little details and find the dark secrets of Super Mario Bros. that will change the way you look at these games forever.

We all know Mario smashes bricks and collects coins throughout his journeys in the Mushroom Kingdom, but have you ever stopped to think about where these materials came from? It turns out that there’s a dark secret about the bricks and coins of the Mushroom Kingdom that might have flown under the radar. Of course they could simply be entities existing in a fiction world…or the bodies and souls of those who have passed away in the Mushroom Kingdom! Yes, we know, that sounds absolutely insane and we have to be crazy to even come up with a theory like that, but stick around, and we’re sure you’ll become a believer in no time.
