What happens to Huawei smartphones and tablets now?

The millions of people who have bought a Huawei phone are now caught up in a global trade war and could soon start losing access to several popular services.

Google has announced that it is blocking the Chinese firm from using its smartphone operating systems meaning consumers won’t be able to update the Android system on their mobiles, and may lose access to Google apps like Gmail, YouTube and Google Maps.

It follows Donald Trump’s executive order aimed at protecting the United States’ computer network from foreign adversaries, a move described by Huawei as “cynical”.
