About Short Film Showcase:
The Short Film Showcase spotlights exceptional short videos created by filmmakers from around the web and selected by National Geographic editors. We look for work that affirms National Geographic’s belief in the power of science, exploration, and storytelling to change the world. The filmmakers created the content presented, and the opinions expressed are their own, not those of National Geographic Partners.

Know of a great short film that should be part of our Showcase? Email sfs@natgeo.com to submit a video for consideration. See more from National Geographic’s Short Film Showcase at http://documentary.com

Projected onto the exterior of the Auckland War Memorial Museum, the multi-sensory experience is brought to life with Michael’s beautiful imagery and the cracking, creaking sounds of the ice. With a score composed by Rhian Sheehan, “Antarctica – While You Were Sleeping” is a collision of nature and architecture that captures the grandeur of one of the most beautiful and remote places on Earth.

In this short film directed by Ben Vecauteren at Syrp, go behind-the-scenes with Joseph Michael on his four-year quest to bring Antarctica’s icebergs to life in the city.
