Veteran’s hunger strike highlights ‘woeful’ mental health treatment of ex-soldiers

A Falklands War veteran is on hunger strike to protest against the ‘woefully inadequate’ mental health treatment of former soldiers.

Former paratrooper Gus Hales has been on hunger strike since the end of October because of what he calls the ‘disgraceful lack of mental health care for ex-soldiers’.

Defence secretary Gavin Williamson announced £10m will go towards veteran mental health needs, but Mr Hales says this is just not enough.
