For the first time in the history of the America’s Cup, young, talented sailors have a clear pathway towards competing for one of the most prestigious trophies in sport. Over four days in September on San Francisco Bay, the world watched elite fleet racing on high performance, wing-sailed AC45 catamarans. At the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup, it was the New Zealand Sailing Team with Emirates Team New Zealand that shined the brightest among the eight countries and 10 teams that competed. These 19-24 year old young guns and future stars of the America’s Cup shined bright as they carve out a pathway for themselves into the top ranks of sailing.
