WIth characters like seem like it with characters like Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman grabbing all the attention as the Holy Trinity of DC Comics, but it could be argued that of all the members of the Justice League, the affable and well meaning Barry Allen, the Flash, might be the most important character in DC Comicis and the DC Extended Universe. All the way back in 1961 Barry Allen’s Flash introduced the concept of the multiverse and comic book and superhero stories have never been the same. For all the problems that being able to retell or reset stories in another universe solved, it brought with it its own complexities so it’s only fitting that it would be the Flash that would come along and clean up the multiverse mess…mostly by making an even bigger mess and having to clean that up. That’s the premise behind Flashpoint that set up the New 52 company wide relaunch of the DC titles. That story played out on the CW as part of the Arrowverse but now it’s bringing its reset magic to the big screen as movie Flash takes a crack and running to the past to save his mom and exonerate his dad. Of course with disastrous consequences. Are there any other kind? We’ll explore what the Flash has done to and for the multiverse and how that is set up to reshape the DC Universe and the ripples that will be felt in every movie after it.
