The Evolution Of Halo

Halo has evolved quite a bit throughout it’s history as Microsoft Xbox’s flagship video game exclusive. Master chief has had incredible success and gearing up for the new Infinite launch, we thought it’d be worth showing where it all started!

Halo: Combat Evolved launched in the Fall of 2001 alongside the release of the original Xbox, and in the nearly two decades since, Halo has become and remains a worldwide phenomenon. With 13 total Halo games and 5 mainline entries, dozens of books, and an endless sea of merch and related content, Halo has changed and evolved enormously since its inception.

Considering how much Halo there is, the whole franchise can be intimidating to newcomers who may not know where to start. Luckily (to some) though, the fundamentals of Halo haven’t changed all that much, and it’s easier than you think to jump in and experience Master Chief’s adventures for yourself.

Today, we’re here to follow the evolution of Halo as a franchise over the years; talk about its legacy and influence on gaming as a whole; and tell you what you need to know about the upcoming Halo Infinite as well as talk about why some fans aren’t happy with the next-gen Halo’s direction.

Whether you’re a longtime Halo fan looking for a refresher in the leadup to Halo Infinite’s 2021 launch or you’ve never played a single Halo game before, we’re here to give you the definitive overview of the evolution of the Halo franchise, including what we know about Halo Infinite.
