Now is definitely not the time to buy a graphics card right now because 2020. It finds a way to mess with everyone, including us PC gamers. Nvidia recently launched their new Ampere GPUs and even AMD just released their flagship GPU in the Big Navi lineup, but good luck finding any of them. They’re in very high demand and the supply is low so you’re not going to get your hands on them anytime soon. The earliest you’re looking at is probably Q1 2021. So if you want to turn RTX on and ray-trace your way to gorgeous graphics, you’ll have to be patient, as hard as that may sound.

But do you really need to upgrade? Well, it depends on what’s in your PC. If you’ve got an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 Super or better, probably not, but if you’re running an older card, it’s definitely worth the upgrade. GPUs have caught up to most games already, so unless you want to game in 8k at 120fps, you’ll be fine with a previous generation GPU. That being said, these new GPUs are incredibly powerful and some are very affordable, so they might just be too good to resist.

Nvidia and AMD have so many great options, so watch the video to find out what we recommend for both hardcore and casual PC gamers. Let us know what graphics card you currently have and which one you’re planning on upgrading to. Don’t forget to subscribe to TheGamer for more PC-focused content!
