Recreating 1860s New York (COPPER Making Of)

Watch an exclusive interview with the Executive Producers, Academy Award® Winner Barry Levinson and Emmy® Award Winner Tom Fontana, and discover why “recreating New York and the 1860s [for BBC America’s all new original series COPPER] is like Walt Disney might’ve felt creating Disney Land!”

Raves Tom Fontana (Homicide: Life on the Streets, Oz), “I love history, and this particular period, the American Civil War, is something that I know a ridiculous amount about… It’s gonna smell different, It’s gonna smell different, it’s gonna look different, it’s gonna sound different!”

Agrees Barry Levinson (Good Morning Vietnam, Rain Man), “Visually, I think [COPPER] should be very striking… I think we have something that becomes very compelling, very entertaining.”

COPPER is a gripping cop drama set in 1860s New York City, and centers on Kevin Corcoran, an intense, rugged Irish-immigrant cop working the city’s notorious Five Points neighborhood. Corcoran is struggling to maintain his moral compass in a turbulent world while on an emotional and relentless quest to learn the truth about the disappearance of his wife and the death of his daughter.

COPPER stars Tom Weston-Jones (MI-5) and Franka Potente (The Bourne Supremacy, Run Lola Run). The series is created by Fontana and Academy Award®-nominee Will Rokos (Monster’s Ball, Southland)
