Race to No 10 begins as MPs vote for December general election

It took him four attempts but Boris Johnson has now got the election he wanted.

A bill for a vote on December 12th has been passed overwhelmingly in the House of Commons by 438 votes to 20.

The numbers swung decisively the Prime Minister’s way once Jeremy Corbyn decided to give his backing, despite the opposition of some of his own Labour MPs.
