Sony is primed to continue their console dominance in 2020 with the PlayStation 5 and their secret weapon might come in the form of Virtual Reality, specifically PSVR. That’s right, it’s not the amazing specs under the hood of the PS5 or all those incredible exclusives that could allow the console to overtake the Xbox Series X, it’s PSVR that could make all the difference for Sony in the neverending console wars with Microsoft. But don’t count the Xbox Series X out just yet. While Microsoft may not have a dog in the VR fight, they have a secret weapon of their own that could turn the tide on Sony.
PSVR has been a smashing success. Many gamers believed it to be a gimmick at first, but that gimmick has turned into a cash cow for Sony, making the company hundred millions of dollars in just 4 short years. Sony pretty much owns the Virtual Reality market with so many exclusive games while Microsoft doesn’t even have a VR headset. The HoloLens 2 is super expensive and is more mixed reality or augmented reality than virtual reality, so it doesn’t count. Is PSVR a more powerful secret weapon than Xbox Play Anywhere? Only time will tell.
