My Lightbulb Moment: Using Solar Energy to Feed a Village | National Geographic

Robert Freling first saw the power of solar energy to change lives on a trip to a remote part of China in 1994. Since then, he has worked with the Solar Electric Light Fund to help bring solar power solutions to communities in need. In Benin, West Africa, SELF has installed solar systems in several villages, powering pumps for clean drinking water and drip irrigation for crops. These solar market gardens are dramatically improving the livelihoods and the health of the people who live there.
