How far is gaming away from Ready Player One? With VR looking miles away from what Nintendo’s Virtual Boy showed us in 1995, the Oculus and Oculus 2 and PSVR have shown us that VR is no laughing matter. It’s getting better and better and, as innovation increases, so does our desire and appetite for more. We want bigger better stronger faster for everything, and video games are no exception. In fact, it seems like a place where innovation is practically the rule.

The OASIS requires wrap around glasses, an omnidirectional treadmill, and a full on haptic suit. Well the glasses are already a thing – the graphics just need to improve, and they already are.. I mean, look at that weird red world the Virtual Boy showed us. And look at the graphics of Hellspit VR. That’s only 25 years later, and it’s not a game only available at an amusement park or mall kiosk – you could have it at home for an affordable price.

We at The Gamer grew our Nostradamus neards and the ladies rolled their eyes into the back of their heads to get their Oracle on and came up with 2033 – yes, a mere 13 years from now. Some of you readers might have kiddies by then which you’ll be ignoring because you’ll be playing GTA VIII on VR. Hopefully, junior will have his own headset, treadmill, and bodysuit and can play with you too and help you boost some cars!
