Mario games are known for their family-friendly content and goofy comedy, but in some cases the cheesiness is taken a little too far. Mario is a pretty proud plumber, but there have been multiple occasions where he has embarrassed himself along with some of his Nintendo friends. Watch to see the cheesy moments any gamer would cringe at. These moments follow a long journey through Mario’s history including PC games, Nintendo 64 titles and some of the newer releases for consoles like the Switch and Wii U.

In the 1990s, Mario released a number of pre-school based educational games. In the games, multiple cutscenes focused on sing-alongs of classic children’s songs. Watching Mario reenact the songs word by word is as cringey as they come and a low point for the plumber. Mario Party 2’s opening scene felt like a cop out by the animators and was filled some pretty corny stuff that ended up just being a huge waste of time. The Wii U version of Super Smash Bros introduced the Amiibo integration, but an extended commercial promoting it was as cheesy as they come. A young boy trains to fight as Mario and the commercial only gets worse as it goes on. Bowser Jr. was introduced in Super Mario Sunshine, but the whole plot felt like some weird soap opera. The Rockin’ Raceway mini-game in Mario Party 3 is not just an annoying button-masher, but the game itself is lame and cheesy. Hotel Mario is not only an awful Mario game, but the cutscenes featured in it are horrendous. Watch to see all 6 painfully cringey moments in Mario games.
