China issues travel warning as virus deaths surge

The World Health Organisation has delayed a decision to declare the outbreak of coronavirus in China a global health emergency.

The number of people known to have been killed by the virus has increased to 17 and citizens of Wuhan in China have been asked not to leave the city.

The UK government says that checks on passengers flying in from the affected region of China would be introduced – with special facilities used at Heathrow.
