The Boeing 737 MAX was mocked by an employee as being “designed by clowns” more than a year before the first of two fatal air crashes, it has emerged.

World leaders have suggested it’s “highly likely” a Ukrainian plane that crashed near Tehran was brought down by an Iranian missile.

Iran has denied the claim and invited US, Canadian and French authorities to take part in the crash investigation.

All 176 people on board died.

Scientists in Australia estimate one billion animals have been killed by the deadly bushfires, which show no sign of burning out.

The disaster is set to get worse with dangerous conditions forecast for the next few days.

One of the hardest hit areas is Kangaroo Island in South Australia, where it is thought that around half the koala population of the island has been killed by the fires.

Police officers want restrictions on the use of pay-as-you-go phones to help tackle county lines drug gangs.

Officers suggested people “should have to register personal details when buying a mobile phone or replacement SIM card” to prevent the handsets and numbers being used for drug dealing.

The recommendations come from the Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services.

The term county lines is used to describe gangs and organised criminal groups distributing drugs from typically larger cities to smaller towns around the country, using mobile phones to arrange deals with suppliers and buyers.
