Playing video games is all about making choices. Should Mario go down the pipe? Should you pass the basketball or take the shot in NBA Jam? Is it a good idea to steal a car right in front of a GTA cop? All of these decisions lead to different actions within the game and the ultimate outcome you face. Unfortunately, some games allow you to make choices with no significant outcome. The games make you feel like you’re really mixing up the plot only to pull the rug out from underneath you and deliver the same outcome no matter your decision.

Arkham City featured a great DLC where you took on the role of Catwoman. At one point, you were even able to chose to let Batman die, but the game reverses any action you chose to take. In Saints Row IV, you play the role of the President where you make some huge decisions for the country, but they never matter. Minecraft Story Mode takes everything you love about Minecraft and turns it into predictable storytelling. Deadly Premonition gives you a huge choice at the end of the game, but every single choice ends the same way. Both the Game of Thrones and the Walking Dead fall victim to following TV storylines and your character choices ultimately become pointless. Fallout 4 has a number of pointless decisions, but one of them comes right in the beginning where you can design your own characters. It uses a challenging technique called retroscoping, which is a strain on the voice actors and animators. And as the show gets bigger, everyone is feeling the strain to make it better and better. Co-creator Dan Harmon has a history of stepping back from projects when they become too much, and many fear he may do so here. The other co-creator, Justin Roiland, has a long history of half finished projects, and we would be saddened but not surprised if he added Rick and Morty to the list.

The MCU as a whole has been incredible. Heroes are introduced, story arcs are developed, and then everything comes together for huge films like The Avengers and Captain America: Civil War. One of the biggest problems with connecting all of these films is finding a proper timeline to ensure all of the events make sense. Even though the timeline started out strong, there are multiple issues that cannot be ignored.

One of the biggest errors with the MCU timeline was the introduction of Spider-Man. The deal came well into Marvel’s Phase 3 and forced some major changes to make the character young and youthful. As part the Spider-Man inclusion, the film created a major timeline error that does not fit with other films. Another character who flubbed up the timeline was Vision. The character states something that would screw up the timeline. In Doctor Strange’s stand alone film, there are many instances where the dates are shown, but do not actually make sense when applied to other film timelines. Over the past couple of years, there has been a huge increase in productions where the timelines will only get more complicated as films enter different timelines and spread the MCU across space and time. Timeline complications are bound to occur with the release of Captain Marvel because the film is actually set in the 1990s and not a part of the current timeline. Watch to see all of these timeline errors, how they occurred, and why they’ll never be fixed.
