Sometimes, an actor will sign onto a film without knowing what horrors lie ahead for them. By the time production has wrapped, these films left their actors scarred and terrified for many years to come, some even have arguably not gotten over their roles. One such example of that would be Johnny Depp, who is currently co-starting as Grindelwald in Fantastic Beasts. He starred in the hit film Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which saw him playing Hunter S. Thompson. Depp committed a bit too much to the role one might argue and his behavior today may even be attributed to him going all out on that role. Bob Hoskins was the lead detective on Who Framed Roger Rabbit and was one of the first actors to act alongside animated characters. Since the rabbit wasn’t really there, Hoskins had to imagine the animated animals which left Hoskins hallucinating and out of acting for around a year! Poltergeist is one of the most beloved horror films from the 80s but one scene in particular was enough to freak us out and we weren’t even on set! Instead of using rubber bones for the infamous pool scene, the production opted to buy real human skeletons and refrained from telling the lead actress what was really going down. During the production of The Blair Witch Project, the actors found themselves lost, hunger and terrified thanks to the hidden directors, who would steal their food in the night and launch rocks at the actors from the dark. In the Alien prequel Prometheus, Ridley Scott actually swapped an actor for a dummy and didn’t tell the cast of the switch-not the surprise waiting inside the dummy! The results are completely genuine and heart stopping.
