The Unexpected History of Star Wars: Empire at War

Interactive Star Wars adventures ranging from the abysmal to the superb have permeated arcade, console, and PC gaming since the early 1980s. From side-scrolling platformers to demolition racers, there were no shortage of games based on a galaxy far, far away by the turn of the century. LucasArts, to little success, even dabbled in a fair few real-time strategy endeavors, none of which held a candle to 2006’s acclaimed Star Wars: Empire at War.

Set before the events of Episode IV: A New Hope, Empire at War allowed players to participate in the saga’s epic clashes on land and in space. Some considered this particular outing a spiritual successor to the brand’s first RTS game—1998’s poorly received Star Wars: Rebellion. However, Empire at War managed to succeed where its predecessors failed, thanks to the Las Vegas-based team responsible for its creation.

Though a 15-year-old title in a niche genre, there remains a thriving player-base for Empire at War, its community primarily bolstered by fan-made mods that every so often incorporate campaigns, bug fixes, and graphical improvements. Developer Petroglyph Games’ support never ceased, evidenced by the new maps and content updates that have for years provided players with reasons to revisit the memorable RTS. And since it seems as though hopes for a sequel dwindled long ago, the 2006 release counts as one experience fans will want to hold dear in perpetuity.

في البداية كان يغنى خارج المدرجات في كلية التجارة في جامعة الأسكندرية وتعرف بالملحن حميد الشاعري
في حفل بالعجمي وسمعه فشجعه على الانتقال إلى القاهرة وكانت بداية مع أغنية ولا يا أبو خد جميل في ألبوم منوعات لقاء النجوم وقبل هذه الأغنية عمل البوم كامل مع فرقه يحيى خليل التي كانت ولكن هذا الالبوم فشل مما اضطر مصطفى إلى الرجوع للتعامل مع الفنان حميد الشاعري الذي كان وقدما مها أعمال لاقت نجاحا ومع طارق مدكور ثم الفنان محمد مصطفى. ومع ظهور برامج الموسيقى مثل البرو تولز وغيرها جزبته فكرة التوزيع الموسيقى وحاول أن يوزع أعماله بنفسه في البوم (هي).🚩

MCU Phase 4 Without CGI

CGI can create visually incredible scenes and sequences, and Marvel’s Phase 4 uses VFX more than ever before. MCU Phase 4 entries Spider-Man: No Way Home, Wandavision, Eternals, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Loki have brought that visual splendor to both movie theaters and on TV screen via Disney+. There are countless digital artists working on these projects, but that only tells half the story. The truth is, VFX supervisors say over and over again that it’s important for artists to have real-life references so that the CGI can be as photo-realistic as possible. And ideally the references are in camera via sets or props.

It’s fascinating to look at the MCU’s Phase 4 with and without CGI so you can see just how far artists need to go to bring the stories of your favorite Marvel heroes to life. Sometimes it’s just removing wires, or adding webbing. Other times, it means creating a whole detailed world we’ve never seen before, like in the Disney+ series Loki. Viva la CGI!
