The 2022 FIFA World Cup has officially kicked off in Qatar.
The opening ceremony was held at the tent-shaped Al Bayt Stadium and featured a speech from actor Morgan Freeman and a performance from BTS member Jungkook.
This year’s tournament has been plagued by controversies with Qatar under scrutiny for its treatment of LGBTQI+ groups and migrants.
