It uses a challenging technique called retroscoping, which is a strain on the voice actors and animators. And as the show gets bigger, everyone is feeling the strain to make it better and better. Co-creator Dan Harmon has a history of stepping back from projects when they become too much, and many fear he may do so here. The other co-creator, Justin Roiland, has a long history of half finished projects, and we would be saddened but not surprised if he added Rick and Morty to the list.
