You know times are getting weird when people would rather live in a fictional world than the real world. Maybe it has to do with the demands of growing up. Let’s face it, it’s hard to be an adult. The weight of our responsibilities gets heavier and heavier over time and, sometimes, we just seek out an escape to forget our worries for just a little while.
While it’s great to have technology at our fingertips, it does have its problems. Since it’s accessible to all, it becomes an escape. It becomes a way for children, teens and young adults to cope with increasing pressures of their world. The danger with video game addiction is not necessarily that they will spend too much time playing. It’s that the ones who are addicted to it don’t want to live in the real world anymore. The game becomes more important than moving ahead in their actual lives.
Having thousands of Let’s Players on YouTube doesn’t help either and you can even watch a live stream of someone playing a game through Twitch. Why do people love watching others play games? Well, you should know, you’re the one watching this video! But seriously, addiction is all consuming and you flock towards others with the same obsession.
Gaming culture has moved away from Mario and its cute storyline, it’s gotten down a dark path that no one could have anticipated. Something fun was never supposed to become this dangerous, yet here are 10 times video games destroyed kids’ lives!
