Pokemon hit the scene in 1996 and most people thought that it was just a passing fad for children to pass the time with. Collecting virtual creatures and forcing them into the digital equivalent of illegal dog fights couldn’t have possibly lasted more than a fortnight, right? Well, for all the naysayers, it’s over 20 years later so it looks like Pokemon is here to stay. Don’t get your Pokeballs in a twist over it.

Everyone is familiar with the catchphrase, “Gotta catch ‘em all!” The entire basis of the series is forcing children to hunt for Pokemon like kids in a warzone hunt for brass in order to buy food. The games themselves are probably precursors to a serious gambling problem, but who cares? The creatures are cute and it’s fun to force them to fight for their lives! It’s like indentured servitude, but with zero perks whatsoever! No one gains their freedom!

So back to catching them all! There are over 800 Pokemon available in the wild, depending on which game you’re playing and where (if it’s Pokemon Go). That’s a lot of Pokemon to be trapped in a small, cramped Pokeball. It pretty much goes without saying that not every Pokemon you catch is going to be a winner, but as everyone knows Rattata isn’t lying about how awesome he is. Other Pokemon, however, love to give the appearance of being legendary fighters in every way, shape, and form, but are overall disappointing. Those are the Pokemon we’re hatin’ on today.
