Ever since the late 1980’s, there seems to always be some version of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles getting released. These versions range from cartoons to live-action theatrical releases. While every version of the ninja turtles is aimed towards kids, animators and writers have found a number of different ways to sneak in adult moments.

On the CG Nickelodeon version of the Ninja Turtles, the villain known as Fishface takes one of his puns a little too far. Dr. Stockman has spent years trying to foil the turtles, but Shredder may be the one who has tortured him the most, especially in the 4Kids animated series. April works crazy hours at the news network, but apparently does her boss. The late night hours he stays one time are for a much different reason. Some episodes of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are so dark for children they didn’t even make it to the air. Dr. Stockman once took a form so gruesome, the episode didn’t air on television for nearly ten years. In an episode on the original cartoon, a giant monkey escapes and Donatello asks a weird question. In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: Secret of the Ooze, Splinter spends a lot of time reflecting on the roof, but we are not sure exactly what he’s doing. In the very first episode of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, April gets untied by Mikey is a very unusual way. Watch to see all of these Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle moments that are not for kids.
