When it comes to the most popular genres of video games, first-person shooters and open-world games are often the first that get mentioned. But there’s just something about the freedom of open-world games that is unlike anything we’ve ever witnessed in gaming. The ability to do whatever you want at your own pace is different compared to any other genre of video games out there and there are a certain few games that do this perfectly.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are often viewed as the 3 best open world games ever created and for good reason. They all have those elements that keep you coming for more: good gameplay, great story and plenty of content. But just because these are typically seen as the best open world games doesn’t mean they’re the only good ones. You can’t even mention open-world games without also talking about Grand Theft Auto 5, Red Dead Redemption 2 and Fallout: New Vegas.
