Hemos visitado Catar, el país más rico del mundo. La economía de Qatar estuvo basada en la pesca de la perla hasta entrados los años 20 del siglo pasado cuando, con el descubrimiento de la perla cultivada, mucho más barata, el país entró en crisis. Todo volvió a cambiar en 1939, cuando se descubrió petróleo. Para conocer cómo era y es ahora el negocio de la perla, nos adentramos en un comercio local especializado, donde nos descubren todos sus secretos.

La capital del país, Doha, es uno de los principales centros económicos del planeta y el lugar con la mayor densidad de millonarios de Oriente Medio. Además, #Catar será el país anfitrión del Mundial de Fútbol 2022, es el primer país árabe que lo consigue, y en nuestro recorrido por la ciudad hemos visitado los campos de entrenamiento del equipo catarí Al-Sadd Sports Club. Aquí nos hemos encontrado con dos futbolistas españoles que triunfan en el equipo catarí: Gabi Fernández, excapitán del Atlético de Madrid, y Xavi Hernández, exjugador del Barça.

También hemos estado en el Museo de Arte Islámico, la visita cultural más importante de la ciudad y un lugar con un gran valor arquitectónico, cuyo edificio fue diseñado por el arquitecto estadounidense leoh Ming Pei.

También nos hemos adentrado en el desierto de la Península de Zekreet, una reserva natural donde habitan los Oryx, un animal autóctono de la zona e icono del país. En medio del desierto hemos descubierto la ‘East-West/West-East’, una obra del escultor minimalista Richard Serra.
