Homer Simpson Was Supposed To Be Krusty The Clown

Matt Groening has come a long way from writing surrealist comics for alt newspapers featuring his two bunny characters in Life in Hell. That comic found a fan in James L Brooks and Tracy Ulman, but it was not the cartoon that made its way to television. Instead Groening took inspiration from his own family and a town in his native Oregon, Springfield, and created one of the longest running tv shows in history. The prime time antics of Springfield’s most famous residents have run for 33 seasons and during that time has collected a lot of lore and references. The show built around pop culture references has itself become an inseparable part of the popular culture. A lot has changed in the world since the show’s introduction in 1989, and with no end in sight the show is rapidly approaching becoming older than Homer Simpson himself. The show has been a happy home to writers who favor the unique environment that the show operates under, receiving no studio notes and with animation they are allowed to take the show wherever they want, including space where Homer and an inanimate rod both put the day at risk and saved it. Naturally there are hidden references and inspirations and, with a show that long more than a little instances of self reference. What’s your favorite piece of trivia for the longest running family on television? Let us know in the comments and while you’re there be sure to like and subscribe for the latest in your inbox.

Peacemaker: Behind The Scenes Secrets

With HBO Max’s superhero adjacent comedy series rockin’ them TV screens, it’s about time to get into some behind the scenes deets for everyone’s favorite John Cena rockin’ tidy whities action comedy. The most inspirational factoid about Peacemaker is that show creator James Gunn, writer of such classic works as the Guardians of the Galaxy films and Tromeo & Juliet, set out to write the whole series out of boredom. Yeah, he didn’t actually think that it would be something that got MADE – instead, he found himself locked down in quarantine working out what exactly made Peacemaker tick. In The Suicide Squad there is of course a lot of backstory for characters like Ratcatcher II and Polka-Dot Man (RIP RIP), but outside of a brief mention of his father and an extremely heartwrenching character beat during his unaliving of Rick Flagg… we don’t really get much more than misplaced bravado and bizarre life philosophies within the film itself. Gunn, an ardent comics fan, knew there was more to the character and of course…. We’ve all seen John Cena in the role… so naturally, Gunn wrote it up, giving himself a goal of one episode per week for eight weeks. So all you writers out there, ya just work up the gumption and channel your inner, uh, depression, I guess and um… also be extremely wealthy.

Of course, one of the many breakout stars of Peacemaker is Christopher Smith’s pet eagle slash best friend Eagly. While it is fairly obvious that the extremely animated eagle is, well, animated – some viewers were curious how much of the eagle was practical, say a puppet or animatronic. In reality, Eagly was completely CGI – a creation of WETA Digital, using assets they already had in their library, along with the expertise of VFX supervisor Guy WIlliams, who had worked with WETA on The Suicide Squad. WETA of course have worked on, like, everything – Lord of the Rings, various Marvel and DC projects, that sick as hell Predator sequel where Eddie Brock’s a serial killer. They’re a one stop shop for excellence, and with Eagly they brought their trademark high quality CGI to enliven that sassy, loyal bird.

15 Secret Peacemaker Facts You Need To Know

We’ve got some quality factoids about that there Peacemaker show to through in your face, sonny Jim! This one’s probably the most well known Peacemaker factoid, but might as well throw it in: dude didn’t start as a DC character! Nope, originally he was created for Charlton Comics, which started back in 1945 before eventually losing all its steam and going out of business in 1985. This was two years after most of their superhero characters were acquired by DC. He started off in the Fightin’ Five comic before getting his own short-lived run facing um, well, a variety of villains. Oh, and did you know that Peacemaker was also the inspiration for the Comedian in Alan Moore’s Watchmen? In fact, the initial idea for that landmark series was to have the cast made up of Charlton Comics characters, whom Moore could revamp for his own purposes as he had done with Miracleman. Which, by the way, very depressing comic – thanks Alan!

There were even other Peacemakers in the comics. The third one was Mitchell Black, who had been a surgeon who whoopsied a patient during experimental surgery and wound up recruited by the Peacemaker Project. He wore this garish monstrosity and wound up being forcibly shuffled off this mortal coil by Prometheus during the bloodbath that was Infinite Crisis. Back to Christopher Smith’s incarnation though, after his four issue miniseries in 1988, writer Paul Kupperberg actually pitched an ongoing series to DC – hence that 1988 volume being open ended. Per Kupperberg’s blog, the series would have opened after the disappearance of Christopher Smith following Checkmate #33 and would introducer a new Peacemaker, Richard Carter.

Biggest Mistakes in MCU Phase 4 So Far

Now that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is entering Phase 4, we have seen a whole slew of MCU productions so far including: Black Widow, Shang Chi and The Legend Of The Ten Rings, Eternals, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Wandavision, Falcon And The Winter Soldier, Loki, What If, and Hawkeye. That’s a pretty incredible amount considering we can still expect to see: Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness, Moon Knight, Black Panther Wakanda Forever, Ms.Marvel, Fantastic Four, and many more exciting projects in the very near future!

With Kevin Feige’s everlasting quest of dominating the box office and Disney+, comes a few mistakes made along the way. Which is totally understandable give the sheer scope of all the projects that have been released so far. In this video, we will be having a look at some of the biggest mistakes seen in phase four so far. Covering everything from behind the scenes mistakes, set decoration mishaps, facts stated in the movie that are outright lies, and just general things that don’t make any sense.

Join us as we question why the Celestial Tiamut never destroyed the Earth during the botched (but still somewhat completed emergence), ponder why the Sanctum Sanctorum including Doctor Strange and the new Sorcerer Supreme Wong never actually help out, and point out some outright lies told by the likes of The Winter Soldier, Red Guardian, and Kingo.

This episode was a fun trip down memory lane. Spider-Man 3 HISHE was the kick off for many things for this channel. There were so many more things we wanted to do for this episode but couldn’t because of time constraints. We thought it’d be fun to make a HISHE that not only has it’s own HISHE moments, but also acts as a “prequel” if you will to our Spider-Man 3 HISHE. Bright Idea Guy’s first appearance, Spider-Man not being in the cafe yet, Peter picking up on his villain proof spider sense. Perhaps we are the only ones who will look at it this way. But if you’ve been following us long enough to catch all the call backs, Thank you so much for sticking with us so many years!
Happy Holidays!
