Aaron Huey: America’s native prisoners of war

Aaron Huey’s effort to photograph poverty in America led him to the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, where the struggle of the native Lakota people — appalling, and largely ignored — compelled him to refocus. Five years of work later, his haunting photos intertwine with a shocking history lesson in this bold, courageous talk from TEDxDU.

He extracts critical lessons from Northern Ireland, Liberia, Timor and more to show that leadership, diplomacy and institutional design are our three most effective weapons in waging peace.

D3Live: Should You Buy Kinect?

Buy from Amazon: http://amzn.to/hXYEVQ

In this episode of D3Live I discuss if should you buy Kinect, the new add on to the Microsoft Xbox 360 console. The Kinect is a unique device that tracks your body with two cameras and four microphones to allow for controller free gameplay. At the moment the biggest downfall is the limited selection of launch titles and the small area of space you have to use it.

D3Live is a weekly show I do live every Saturday at 3PM Eastern time live on BlogTV. If you are interested in asking me questions for the video or just watching the show live keep an eye out as I will post a video here on YouTube before I begin. http://www.blogtv.com/people/duncan33303

Download Apple Safari 5.0.2: http://www.apple.com/safari/download/

Download Google Chrome 9.0.570.0: http://www.google.com/chrome/intl/en/eula_dev.html

Download Microsoft Internet Explorer 9.0.7930.16406: http://windows.microsoft.com/ie9

Download Mozilla Firefox 4 Beta 6: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/beta/

Download Opera 11 Alpha 1029: http://www.opera.com/browser/next/

In this browser test I pit Chrome 9 vs Firefox 4, Internet Explorer 9, Opera 11 and Safari 5. I compare all five browsers in JavaScript speed using the Sunspider benchmark, the overall performance with the Peacekeeper benchmark and the HTML5 compatibility and GPU acceleration with the IE Fish Tank test. I also measured the size of the interface of each browser as well as how usable each browser is.

Lastly I take a look at the unique features of all five browsers, including the excellent Google Chrome Instant feature, the instant switching of Personas for Mozilla Firefox, Accelerators for Microsoft Internet Explorer 9, the great customization options of Opera and the sleek eye candy in Apple Safari.
