Inside the America’s Cup: No Second Place – Ep 5

Watch Episode 4: http://youtu.be/8NLondMnwVk
In episode 5, Racing the Riotous Bay, the iconic San Francisco Bay takes center stage as a body of water that has never been easy to sail or tame. Treacherous tides, swirling currents and blustery winds present tremendous challenges for the teams in the 34th America’s Cup.

To win, it’s not just about speed, it’s about maneuvering around the course and making split second decisions, all while dealing with the erratic conditions of the bay. Unlike any race course in the world, every 30 seconds the sailors are racing in a different weather pattern. It is so demanding, comparisons are made to mountain climber taking on Mt. Everest. This episode also highlights the gear that protects the sailors in case of a capsize or any accident.

NO SECOND PLACE, a six-episode production in conjunction with the America’s Cup, offers a fascinating and dramatic perspective at the world of sailing with a behind-the-scenes look at the teams competing at the 34th America´s Cup, September 7-21, 2013 in San Francisco.

This documentary-style production goes inside the teams, boat designs, training regimens, rules, the speed of the sport, strategy and teamwork, among other elements.

No Second Place: Six-Part Series
1: Racing to Win, premiered June 26
2: Training to Win, premiered July 10
3: The Cutting Edge, premiered July 24
4: Learning to Fly, premiered August 8
5: Racing The Riotous Bay, premieres August 22
6: Defending The Cup, premieres Sept. 4

Pushing the boundaries of slopestyle mountain biking once again, Red Bull Joyride descended the Whistler Mountain Bike Park today as the exhilarating, gravity-defying anchor event of the Crankworx Whistler Festival.

Big tricks and plenty of clean runs blew the judges away, but it was 23 year-old Brandon Semenuk of Whistler, BC who reclaimed the podium’s top step after his first win in 2011 with the highest score ever recorded at this event and a cool $25,000. Martin Söderström of Sweden took second place, followed in third by Sam Pilgrim of the UK.
