Promoted | The Skoda Kamiq: the compact SUV for urban adventures | Autocar

Meet Sarah. Like any busy working mum, she spends her days juggling family life with deadlines and meetings. That’s why Sarah always makes time to escape the treadmill whenever she can – her new hobby of kayaking letting her enjoy the peace of the water and the chance to explore her town from a fresh new perspective.

In the language of the Inuit people, Kamiq means ‘something that fits perfectly’, and that makes it the ideal match for the new Skoda Kamiq – a compact SUV designed to be the perfectly sized small but practical partner for busy, adventurous urban lives.

With city-friendly dimensions that help you scythe through narrow streets, a roomy and versatile interior that boasts from 400 litres to 1395 litres of luggage space, and advanced tech and practical features that put you in control, it’s ideal for helping busy urbanites – like Sarah – take control to rediscover the joys of city life.

Compact, spacious and feature-packed in equal measure, Skoda’s stylish new compact city-friendly SUV is perfect for rediscovering your town, your way.

Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series review | AMG’s most powerful car tested | Autocar

AMG knows how to make range-topping supercar. Its Black Series models are the stuff of legend. And this, the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series, is its latest creation.

Based on the Mercedes-AMG GT-R, the GT Black Series has a lot more power – some 720hp (730hp), which is good enough to propel it from 0-62mph in 3.2sec and onto a top speed of 202mph.

That’s thanks in part to a shift of the fabled 4.0-litre V8, which moves from a cross-plane crank to a flat-plane crank, letting it rev higher. But it’s also down to some astonishing new aerodynamic efficiency, created by the same aerodynamicist who designed the AMG GT GT3 race car.

Priced at £335,000 in the UK, the latest Black Series will be an exclusive sight. We took to the Lausitzring in Germany for a wild ride in AMG’s latest creation.

New Aston Martin Vantage Roadster review | 2020’s fastest soft-top | Autocar

When we say ‘fastest soft-top’, we don’t mean the car – we mean the hood itself on the new Aston Martin Vantage Roadster, which can raise or lower in less than seven seconds. Seven seconds!

Otherwise the new 2020 Aston Vantage Roadster is the car you might expect: a 503bhp V8-engined sports car that has a top speed of 190mph, can get from 0-60mph in 3.8sec and costs £126,950. Figures not unlike the Vantage coupe, only now with that remarkable folding hood.

See it, and the car, in action here in our sensible, no-nonsense car review. Join us for more, give us a like or subscribe, and thanks for supporting the channel.

Rolls-Royce Ghost review | luxury Rolls driven | Autocar

Here’s a straightforward sensible car review of a straightforward sensible car. Well, these things are relative. This is the new Rolls-Royce Ghost and it is Rolls-Royce’s entry-level saloon. Which still means it costs £208,000 and has a 6.6-litre V12 engine making 563bhp. So quite a lot.

Good enough, in fact, for 0-60mph in 5.8sec and for it to reach a limited top speed of 155mph. But it’s the way it goes down the road at sedate speeds that’s more interesting. Find out how this Bentley Flying Spur and Mercedes-S-Class Maybach rival drives in our full review here. And join us for more reviews of sensible, and non-sensible, cars any time.

Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70 review | Audi-engined Dutch sports car that can pull 2G

Shot by: Olgun Kordal
Presented by: Matt Prior

Well, this is a giggle. We headed to the Netherlands to drive the Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70, a long name for a small car that has spectacular performance.
Company founder Joop Donkervoort started his business importing Lotus, then Caterham, 7s. But he had to modify them slightly so they could be sold legally in continental Europe. He ended up producing his own car and he hasn’t stopped creating since.
This is his company’s latest model: the Donkervoort D8 GTO-JD70, made to celebrate his 70th birthday. It’s wild: it has a 415bhp Audi 5-cylinder engine under the hood, on Nankang track day tyres it’s said to be able to corner at 2G. It’s beautifully put together, has a top speed of 174mph, can do 0-62mph in a claimed 2.7sec and costs, including taxes, some £176,000 in the UK.

We had a short time to get video of this car so join us for a brief rundown of what we think makes it great – there’s a more comprehensive written review at https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/donkervoort/d8-gto/first-drives/donkervoort-d8-gto-jd70-2020-review.

New Land Rover Defender meets Jeep Wrangler and Mercedes-Benz G-Class off-road | Autocar

Presented by: Matt Prior
Shot & edited by: Oli Kosbab

Here it is, then, the new Land Rover Defender against its rivals for the first time.

They include the Jeep Wrangler, the original 4×4. Since 1941, the Jeep has been setting the standard off-road.

Then there’s the Mercedes-Benz G-Class. It is new too – although it doesn’t look it – and with three locking differentials and superb off-road performance, it’s no walkover.

We take an in-depth look at all three as we judge their respective off-road performance. Approach angles, ramp angles, departure angles, potential differential locking, wade depth, axle articulation: it’s all under the spotlight here.

Aston Martin DBX review | new V8 Aston SUV on test | Autocar

The 2021 Aston Martin DBX could hardly be newer: it’s a new car, competing in a new market segment, built on a new platform, in a new factory.

It’s the first Aston SUV, it’s a 4×4 and it seats five people. It has a large boot, a tall ride height and can tow 2700kg.

It’s also still meant to be an Aston Martin. So it has a 0-60mph time of 4.3sec and a top speed of 181mph. Because it’s designed to compete with the Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus, Range Rover and Porsche Cayenne, it costs £158,000 in the UK.

Join us as we try this new 4×4 in three places: a track test, an off-road test, and a road test, because, of course, that’s where the car will spend most of its time.

Just how good is it? And how will it stack up against its competitors?
