2019 Overland Adventure East presented by TireRack.com Day 4—Onward to the Expo

Watch this short recap of Day 4 of 2019 Overland Adventure East! The day’s task was to exit Twin Mountain Off Road, navigate the gravel chicanery that was the local roads, and eventually wind up at Overland Expo East in Arrington, Virginia. Keeping speeds at a safe pace in the dense fog, we wound through tunnels of overarching tree branches bearing signs of early Autumn colors, past ruins of farm buildings, and eventually, after radio communications and fuel stops, rolled into Overland Expo East. #OverlandAdventure19

Restomods | Alfaholics GTA-R 290, JIA Jensen Interceptor R, Tuthill Porsche 911 | Autocar

Exciting stuff from Autocar today as we try some modernised classics – restomods, if you like. This isn’t a conventional group test, because the three cars we’ve assembled all do very different things.

The Alfaholics GTA-R is an Alfa Romeo 105-series coupe that has seen the mother of all makeovers. With 240bhp and weighing just 840kg, its power-to-weight ratio is some 290bhp/tonne (hence the name) and fully seam welded, with carbonfibre panels and bespoke engine and gearbox internals and suspension, it’s a true track car.

The Jensen Interceptor R by Jensen International Automotive is more road car than track car. But don’t think that this reworked Interceptor is slow: JIA has squeezed a supercharged Chevy LSA engine under the hood, making more than 550bhp. But, as we’ll see, it may be more cruiser than sports car.

Sitting somewhere between the two, in ethos, is a Porsche 911 modified and modernised by renowned specialists Tuthill. They’ll do almost anything you want to a 911 but here they’ve taken an early 70s 911 E and made it all-round lovelier. It’s a terrific blend of road and track performance.

The base for our test is Llandow circuit in Wales so join our testers James Disdale, Matt Prior and Matt Saunders as they try these three brilliant reimagined classics.

Ignition FULL EPISODE | 2018 Lamborghini Huracán Performante: Does It Do the Numbers?—Episode 190

On this episode of Ignition presented by Tire Rack, raging bull apostle Jonny Lieberman sets out to convince doubting Jethro Bovingdon that the wind-cheating Huracán Performante really is as good as Lamborghini says it is. Remember, Lambo showed the world a Nürburgring lap time of 6:52.01, at the time a record-breaking run that was 4.99 seconds quicker than the Porsche 918 Spyder. The plan is of course to hand the Performante over to pro driver Randy Pobst—the man who set the Big Willow lap record of 1:23.54—to see what he can make of the bright green beastie. If the Performante can beat the 918 on Big Willow, then surely it can (and did) do the deed on the ’Ring. However, before they get to the track, Bovingdon and Lieberman have a little driving to do themselves. To summarize, does the Performante do the numbers? Watch and find out!
