The Bubble Nebula: Winds & Radiation from a Massive Star [Ultra HD]

This visualization of the Bubble Nebula begins with a ground-based view that encompasses the glowing cloud. The high-energy light from the massive O star, BD +60°2522, is responsible for ionizing the entire region. The virtual camera flies through the foreground stars and approaches the central bubble imaged by Hubble. The massive star continuously sheds some of its outer layers in a mass-loss wind, which has blown a bubble of gas seven light-years across. The video’s three-dimensional perspective emphasizes the extended nature of the structure and the fact that BD +60°2522 is not located at the center. The pressure inside the bubble is able to expand more rapidly in the directions away from the surrounding nebula. The computer model incorporates both scientific and artistic interpretation of the data. In particular, distances are significantly compressed.

In Part 2 of Finding Missy, Missy takes a trip back to her alma mater, UC Berkeley, where she is being recognized by her classmates and coaches for winning the prestigious Honda Cup award.

We then find Missy back in Colorado where she is taking the year off college to solely focus on her professional career and prepare for upcoming competitions. She shows us how sacrifice, motivation and determination are imperative as she gives it her all to make it to the top as a professional swimmer.

ABOUT THE SERIES: Finding Missy

“Finding Missy” is a 2-part original series that will give viewers the most up-close look into Missy Franklin’s daily life, told from her own unique perspective.

The “Finding Missy” journey begins on Oahu, Hawaii, where Missy enjoys the ohana life and trades in her daily routine for new elemental challenges. She then takes us back to her beloved Berkeley, California for a glimpse into her college life, and the experiences that she’s left behind to pursue her dreams. And finally, we are brought back to reality, in her hometown of Centennial, Colorado. Here, we experience what training is like at the most elite level, as Missy prepares for what could be her biggest summer yet.

Part 1 of “Finding Missy” will be released on Monday, April 11th.

Part 2 of “Finding Missy” will release two weeks later, on Monday, April 28th.
