في أغلب الأفلام الحربية نرى الجنود يسحبون فتيل القنبلة اليدوية بأسنانهم قبل ان يلقوها على العدو , ولكن في الحقيقة لو حاول احد الجنود القيام بذلك ستنخلع اسنانه ولن يستطيع سحب قتيل القنبلة

في الأفلام نرى الأطباء ينعشون القلب المتوقف بصعقة من جهاز الانعاش الكهربائي
ولكن الحقيقة انه متى توقف القلب عن العمل لا تستطيع انعاشه بجهاز الإنعاش الكهربائي ولو حاولت ألف مرة

في الأفلام يضع البطل منديل مبلل بمادة الكلوروفورم على فم أي شخص فيفقد الوعى على في لحظات
ولكن الحقيقة ان مادة الكلوروفورم تحتاج خمس دقائق لينتشر تأثيرها في جسم الانسان ويستمر هذا التأثير لفترة قصيرة فقط

في عالم السينما تتمكن الشرطة من تتبع المكالمات الهاتفية في أقل من دقيقة
ولكن الحقيقة ان تتبع المكالمات يحتاج لساعة على أقل تقدير

تعلمنا من الأفلام ايضاً قاعدة ثابته تقول انه عليك أن تنتظر أربع وعشرون ساعة للإبلاغ عن أي شخص مفقود , ولكن في الحقيقة إذا كل لديك أدنى شك أن شخص مفقود اتصل بالشرطة فوراً فهذه القاعدة خرافة سينمائية

في السينما والتليفزيون نري الشخص الذى يتعرض للغرق يصرخ عالياً ويتملص محاولاً النجاة من الموت
ولكن الحقيقة ان الغرق في الواقع يختلف تماماً عما نشاهده في مشاهد الغرق في الأفلام , فعندما يشعر الشخص بأنه يغرق يدخل في حالةٍ تسمى “الاستجابة الغريزية للغرق” حيث تصبح الحركة مستحيلةً , فيكون من الصعب جداً ان تلاحظ ان شخصاً ما يغرق

في أفلام الأكشن دائماً ما يطلق البطل النار بمسدسين في نفس الوقت ويبدو هذا ممتازاً وجذاباً جداً
ولكن الحقيقة ان التصويب على هدفين في وقت واحداً شبه مستحيل

في الأفلام كاتم الصوت يخفي صوت اطلاق النار من المسدس تماماً
الحقيقة ان كاتم الصوت يخفف من حدة الصوت و ولكن صوت الاطلاق يبقى مسموعاً ومزعجاً ايضاً

في الأفلام البوليسية تستطيع كسر أي قفل برصاصة واحدة فقط
ولكن الحقيقة أن حلقة القفل سميكة ومصنوعة من الحديد الصلب ورصاصة عادية لا تستطيع كسرها بسهولة

في الأفلام نرى الابطال يتحدثون بصوت عالي وهم يهبطون بالمظلات
ولكن الحقيقة ان سرعة الرياح عند الهبوط تجعلك أصم تماماً لكل الأصوات من حولك
