Alicia Vikander is one of the most acclaimed young actresses of this day and age. She made her feature debut in the Swedish film Pure, but it wasn’t until Alex Garland’s 2014 science-fiction classic Ex-Machina that audiences started to take notice. The role earned her Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations and in the same year she’d win her first Oscar for her performance opposite Eddie Redmayne in The Danish Girl. 2018 promises to be her biggest year yet as she takes up the mantle of everyone’s favorite female, globe-trotting archaeologist Lara Croft in her latest film Tomb Raider.

She may soon be a household name, but there’s plenty you might not know about the actress. For instance, did you know her name is actually pronounced A-lih-see-ah, or that she and fellow video game movie star Michael Fassbender started dating in 2014 and were recently married in a super secret ceremony? Turns out she’s also a trained dancer and even got accepted to law school before deciding to pursue acting as a full-time career. She harbors crushes on a few female celebrities (and ended up telling one of them while they were working on the same film) and her dedication to her craft has led her to learning new languages in addition to putting on ten to twelve pounds of muscle for a role.
