Captain America: Civil War was the highest-grossing movie of 2016 and a truly epic installment in the brilliant Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise. The movie saw the Avengers being split right down the middle, as Steve Rogers and Tony Stark’s views on the Sokovia Accords conflicted with each other. As you would expect of a comic book movie, it was also filled with Easter eggs, references and the kind of intricate details that devoted fans love to go in search of.

In this video, we’ll take you through ten of the best examples of them that you may just have missed!

Those ten examples are; Damion Poitier’s cameo as one of Crossbones’ men (Poitier played Thanos in the mid-credits scene of The Avengers), Sharon Carter’s speech that was taken straight from the comics, the inclusion of Disney’s famous D23 Easter egg, the Winter Soldier’s activation words meaning more than you might think, Tony Stark referring to FRIDAY as a redhead being a comic book reference, director Joe Russo’s cameo as Theo Broussard, the stair truck at Stuttgart airport being the same one seen in Arrested Development, the Ant-Man/Hawkeye team-up being taken straight from a famous comic book cover, Iron Man’s analysis of Captain America’s fighting style being straight from their first fight in the Civil War comic book arc, and Hawkeye saying “The Futurist” being a reference to Robert Downey Jr’s 2004 music album.
